Guidelines for Submission
Appomattox River Review is open for submissions, and is open to anyone who wants to submit!

Things to keep in mind:

We appreciate obscurity and strangeness.
We encourage submissions from all backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, and races.
Creativity is a catalyst for our magazine, as well as innovation and ingenuity.
Please keep graphic violence to a minimum.
As our readers are minors, please do not submit any graphic sexual content.
Genres
Flash fiction: under 1,000 words
1 piece maximum
Long form fiction: under 5,000 words
1 piece maximum
Creative nonfiction: under 5,000 words
1 piece maximum
Poetry: 3-5 poems maximum
No line limit

Hybrid/cross-genre: under 5,000 words
1 piece maximum

ARR encourages hybrid submissions.
Please include a biography with your submission. Written in the third person, this should be kept under 100 words. It can incorporate important aspects of your life, fun hobbies, accomplishments or accolades.

Ex. Gail Giewont is a literary arts teacher at Appomattox Regional Governor’s School for the Arts and Technology, where ARR is produced. She is an accomplished poet, which is published in her chapbook, Vulture. In her free time, Gail loves to hang out with her two dogs, Bee and Bob Barker.
